Today are very pleased to announce the winners of the latest instalment of Findacure and Medics4RareDiseases annual essay competition – The Student Voice Prize. For six weeks beginning in October medical students from across the world submitted their answers to one of our three questions about the rare disease experience. This year we received more entries than ever before, and due to the high quality of the submissions we are awarding an additional runner up prize. Without further ado the winners of this year’s competition are:
- Overall Winner – Anna-Lucia Koerling, for her essay “No Friends 1”
- Runner up – Sandy Ayoub, for her essay “Dual Deprivation”
- Runner up – Anneliese Ng, for her essay “Inequities in Healthcare Provision Between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians”
- Runner up – Muhummed Shaik, for his essay “Improving Rare Disease Recognition Through Undergraduate Medical Education”
