Skydive for Findacure!

by | Feb 6, 2017

Hold onto your hats! After the great success of our 2016 Skydive, Findacure will once again see our bravest supporters launch themselves from a plane over 13,000 feet high!

We are recruiting adventurous, foolhardy and heroic individuals – one of which could be you! The tandem sky dives will take place on 19th August 2017, at the North London Skydiving Centre in March, Cambridgeshire. Places cost £185 and Findacure will contribute £100 towards your dive. In return, we ask that you commit to raising £500* in sponsorship.

We will be on hand to make sure you have everything you need in the run-up and on the day. If you’re not already convinced, how about a free wind tunnel session to push you over the edge?! What’s more, if you send us a photo of yourself, we can make you a personal parachute cartoon! Please email Mary Rose at maryrose@findacure.org.uk to sign up or request more information.

*While we have every confidence that you will reach the £500 target, we do not ¬want this to put you off joining us. Instead, we ask that for every £50 under the £500 that you raise, you pay an extra £10 of your jump fee. For instance, if you raise £450, you pay an extra £10, taking your total jump fee to £95. You will only have to pay for your dive in full if you raise nothing. If you agree to these terms, please sign and date below.

Why jump for Findacure?

We would love for you to be part of Team Findacure! We are a small charity, based in Cambridge, and really value all the hard work and effort our fundraisers put in. Every pound really does make a difference to the work we do in the rare disease community.

Although 3.5 million people in the UK live with a rare disease, many face isolation and have little hope for a treatment. Only half of the 7000 rare diseases have a patient support group set up in the UK, and only 400 of them have a licensed treatment. Because patient populations are so small, there is very little incentive or funding for researching them.
Findacure is a fantastic charity, building the rare disease community by helping patient support groups to establish and grow. We have also launched our own drug repurposing project, which aims to bring treatments to patients much faster and cheaper than novel drug discovery. This is in the hope that fewer patients have to face the isolation, devastation and pain that rare diseases all too often inflict.
