For this week’s blog, we want to highlight Huntington’s Disease Association’s #HuntingtonsInMind campaign. May is Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month and International Huntington’s Disease Awareness Day is May 15!
For this year’s campaign, Huntington’s Disease Association chose the theme of mental health. The goal of the campaign #HuntingtonsInMind is to highlight the impact that Huntington’s disease (HD) has on one’s mental health through a series of short films and case studies.
Each story comes from those living with HD, whether they are gene-positive, carers or other family members. Huntington’s Disease Association will be sharing blogs from HD families and healthcare professionals throughout the month of May to raise awareness, alongside hosting webinars and publishing new resources.
Three powerful films have been released on Huntington’s Disease Association’s YouTube Channel as part of the #HuntingtonsInMind campaign. Each film tells a different story of how HD has impacted his or her personal and family life. Watch all three films and share to raise awareness of HD.

About Huntington’s disease
Huntington’s disease is a rare, genetic disease that causes a progressive breakdown of the nerve cells in the brain. Huntington’s causes changes in movement, learning, thinking and emotions over a period of time with symptoms usually arising between the age of 30 and 50. Children have a 50% chance of inheriting the faulty gene from a parent with Huntington’s.
The Huntington’s Disease Association is a charity dedicated to helping the lives of those affected by the disease. This is through a specialist adviser service, youth engagement service, professional training and working with research trials.
